Bilingual Teachers of the Year Announced!

Sheldon ISD's Multilingual Department is happy to surprise teachers in the district who have been recognized for their efforts to go above and beyond each and every day. Join us in celebrating these ESL and Bilingual Teachers of the Year!
  • Jamie Graves, Secondary ESL Teacher of the Year- As the Newcomer teacher for ESOL II, ELDA II, and Research and Technical Writing at King High School, Ms. Graves provides her recent arrival students with a safe and welcoming learning environment conducive to acquiring the English language while being engaged in the rigor of the academics in a high school setting.  Ms. Graves is dedicated to assist this population of learners and to help them make progress using engaging, hands-on activities in her classroom.  She does not allow her students to say they can’t do it, but instead encourages them to challenge themselves.  She is definitely an asset to our district and will be missed next year as she shifts into the world of retirement.  We wish you nothing but the best in your next adventures.

  • Michelle Garcia, Elementary ESL Teacher of the Year- As a third-grade dual language ESL teacher at Sheldon Elementary, Mrs. Garcia has been committed to educating both emergent bilingual and non-emergent bilingual students with her calm and warming spirit towards her students. One of the things that sets her apart is that she excels in pushing her students forward by providing them with continuous hands-on experiences and small group instruction. It is rewarding to walk into her classroom because you can expect to see her students either learning and exploring with their partners or busy extending their knowledge through small group instruction alongside their teacher.  She is the prime example of a passionate and dedicated educator. Mrs. Garcia deserves this award and Sheldon ISD is very proud to have her as part of our family!

  • Andrea Saucedo, Bilingual teacher of the Year- As a Kindergarten Transitional Bilingual teacher at Sheldon Early Childhood Academy, Mrs. Saucedo demonstrates a love for teaching and cares deeply for her students. She lets her students explore their ideas and always has engaging activities for them. She provides effective instruction to meet the needs of ALL her students.  Mrs. Saucedo has been described as sunshine be her campus colleagues. She creates a warm, inviting, and safe environment that is conducive to learning. Her happiness and positivity touch her students and coworkers, and she never hesitates to lend a hand to her fellow teachers.  ¡Felicidades on a job well done!
