I am the youngest of five siblings. My parents did not receive sufficient schooling but somehow knew the value of hard work and importance of education. With a keen eye on our upbringing, and a laser focus on our education, they dedicated their lives to ensuring that all five of us went to college and got the education that they themselves never had.
Having completed a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University and a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from University of St. Thomas, I am currently working towards an Ed.D. at St. Thomas University’s college of education.
Prior to joining the ranks of educators, I served as a Sergeant in the United States Army. My past experience in education includes teaching as a middle school social studies teacher for five years, serving as an administrative intern for a year and as an assistant principal for two years in Galena Park ISD. Since joining Sheldon ISD, I have had the opportunity to serve as an Academy Principal for a year and then as the Associate Principal at C.E. King High School for another two.
I am very excited and honored to continue to serve with such a dedicated group of educators. Both my wife Sheryl (who is a K-12 product of Sheldon ISD) and I deeply care about our students and want to ensure that they become the future leaders of our community. My belief in “Education for ALL, No Excuses!” comes from my parents and the teachers who supported me and guided me all the way through. Therefore, it is my intent to do the same for our learning community here in Sheldon ISD.
