What I'm Reading

We have such great books here in our library!  I came across this book, The Perfect Place, and it was a fun, quick, interesting read.  The little girl's name is Treasure, and she and her young sister are 'dumped' at her great aunt's house in a tiny Virginia town.  Treasure's mom is on a mission to find her Dad, who has again skipped out on the family.

Treasure's great aunt Grace is quite a character, and she was NOT expecting to inherit two little girls.  Grace is old school and she doesn't tolerate sass, laziness, or tears!

Give this one a read-you will like it as much as I did.

I first read Mountain Dog, by Margarita Engle las year for Hispanic Heritage Month.  It is such a good book that I ordered multiple copies for class readings!

Tony's mom had to go to jail, and Tony was facing becoming a foster child.  Until.......an unknown Tio comes down from the mountains in California and saves him.  Tony's uncle Leonilo lives in the mountains, and Tony, who lived in a huge city of Los Angeles has to figure out how to adjust to the clean smelling, quiet, cold mountains.

Also, Leonilo raises and trains rescue dogs and the dog he lives with is named Gabe.  Gabe is a good natured, loyal friend to Tony and he helps him learn to trust people again.
