SB12 Annual Consent Form

During the 89th Texas Legislative Session, lawmakers passed Senate Bill 12, which requires schools to get annual parental consent before providing routine physical or mental health services. This includes things like first aid, short-term counseling, or social emotional support. To complete the consent form in Skyward:

  • Log into your Skyward Family Access account
  • Locate the 2025-26 Student Handbook Form
  • Indicate whether or not you consent.

KMS Lead Counselor, Candice McCall

Portrait of Counselor Candice McCall

Hello students and parents,

I am excited to be a part of the KMS Panther family! I am originally from Detroit, Michigan and received my Bachelor’s in Psychology from Western Michigan University. After moving to Houston on 2005, I began my career in education and received my Master’s in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University. I have over 10 years of experience in counseling middle school students. I especially love working with this age group because I truly enjoy seeing and being a part of their emotional and social development.

As part of the KMS counseling team, our vision is to create a positive pathway between students, parents, and staff by advocating for student needs through respect and compassion. By encouraging positive relationships, we will help foster a safe, family environment where students can become lifelong learners with a great sense of integrity.

Go Panthers!

KMS Counselor, Bridgette L. Mattina

As counselors at C. E. King Middle School, we are well-informed experienced professionals. We advocate and provide care and support for all students by developing effective and positive relationships which are rooted in respect and compassion. As counselors, we are responsible for recognizing cultural diversity, the impact of social-economic status, and social injustices, such as bullying.

C. E. King counselors join forces with experts within the school system and members of the community to cultivate appropriate educational opportunities involving 504 service support, which assist in evaluating instructional methods which increase educational access for student with learning differences. We assess and identify students at risk, as well as high school endorsements and character guidance.

C. E. King Middle School counselors create positive pathways between students, parents, teachers, administration and the surrounding community. We are active leaders in helping all students accomplish high academic expectations as well as social and emotional wellness.  Furthermore, we collaborate with others in and beyond the school community in order to ensure opportunities for meaningful participation for all students.

In closing, we commit to lifelong professional development to provide the most innovative and effective counseling services to insure the success of all students.

Sincerely,

Bridgette L. Mattina, MS, CSC, LPC
